News Release

THE BANK OF TAMPA LAUNCHES “WOMEN CONNECTED” INITIATIVE

As the bank that is locally connected, The Bank of Tampa brings clients together on a continual basis by making introductions, providing referrals, and helping them achieve greater business success through networking efforts and expansion.  Recently, The Bank of Tampa decided to take this one step further with a new initiative, called “Women Connected”.

Born of an idea from one of our staff members in 2009, some women employees at The Bank of Tampa started to thoroughly examine the differences between men and women professionals/ business owners in our community. Over the next year, they met with fellow women colleagues from different areas of the bank to examine, discuss, and brainstorm  the ways in which The Bank of Tampa could be more effective with its women clients.  Feeling strongly that they were on to something and sharing the information they’d gathered with bank executives, they were encouraged to begin formalizing the roots of a program that concentrated on a specific approach for women business owners and professionals.

From there, a series of intimate focus group luncheons were held that allowed for open conversations between The Bank of Tampa and local women business owners and professionals to learn more about what, specifically, The Bank of Tampa could do to further help them grow. One of the things discussed was that it would be helpful if The Bank of Tampa could give these women something of value, such as a "Lunch and Learn" session. Such a forum could be used to get these types of women together to discuss timely subjects and trends being seen in our business community, while at the same time, provide them with an opportunity to network with other influential women in our local area. With the strong connections The Bank of Tampa has throughout the Tampa Bay area, we can act as partners and advisors when a client has questions about where they should go, whom they should call, or in what direction should they move, whether professionally, civically, or socially.  Such forums could help facilitate this kind of progress.

As a result of an idea that came from one of our own employees, Women Connected was born. We named this program Women Connected because what we strive to do is build upon the connections we already have with women business owners and professional women in our community. We want to help introduce our women clients and partners to other business owners and professionals in our community, no matter who they are, simply because they are the kind of people that in turn can help them achieve further business success. Our purpose is to provide our women clients and partners with opportunities to connect and learn in an environment that is most comfortable for and suitable to them.  With the knowledge The Bank of Tampa has of our community, we can use our deep understanding of the area to help our clients further establish professional, civic and social ties that benefit their businesses, their families, and themselves.  Through Women Connected, we hope to make the relationships our women clients have with us stronger and add even more value to those relationships by further committing to our pledge of being locally connected and personally committed.
