Nick Thurston Recognized with ICBA Independent Banker 40 Under 40 Award

June 1, 2020

TAMPA, Fla., June 1, 2020 – The Bank of Tampa today announced that Nick Thurston, Plant City market director, has been selected as a 40 Under 40: Emerging Community Bank Leader by the Independent Community Bankers Association (ICBA). The award recognizes community-minded, innovative leaders who represent the future of the community banking industry.

“All of us at The Bank of Tampa are proud to congratulate Nick on this much deserved recognition for his hard work and dedication to the Plant City community,” said Scott Gault, Hillsborough County market president at The Bank of Tampa. “Nick embodies all the qualities of a leader representing the future of the community banking industry, and we’re so proud to see he is receiving national recognition for his commitment to the industry, the community, as well as the families and businesses he supports on a daily basis.”

Thurston was selected by the ICBA because of his involvement in community organizations throughout the greater Tampa Bay area, and his effort to do what community bankers do best: make connections and build relationships. His ability to connect with business owners and families, and his strong ties to the Plant City community is why Thurston was hand-picked by The Bank of Tampa to expand its brand of community banking to Plant City, where Thurston led the opening of the bank’s loan production office located downtown in May 2019.

Thurston’s dedication to Plant City is reflected in his community involvement efforts. He is the immediate past president of Plant City Main Street and the Plant City Family YMCA. He is a board member for the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce, as well as the South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation. Additionally, Thurston is a member of the Plant City Rotary Club. Thurston holds a Bachelor of Science in business management from Northwood University. Additionally, he is currently enrolled in the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
